Secondhand Stock Purchases

If you have any surplus items that you think the Association may be interested in purchasing, you should first make contact with the Secondhand Sales Officer either by email or telephone. You should then send through a list of items being offered, an assessment of the condition, and if possible, images of the item(s).

We currently only accept 7mm scale narrow gauge (any gauge) items for our Secondhand Sales site.

Please contact Les Conn, our Secondhand Sales Officer who will answer any questions regarding sending stock to the Association for assessment and some guidance on prices that may be offered. No commitments on value can be provided until the items have been physically assessed. If our offer should not be acceptable, then your items will then be returned to you.

Packing & Sending Items to Us

Please make sure that any items that you send to us for evaluation are securely packed to avoid damage. It is important that any high value items, or collections are insured and ideally sent via a 'tracked' service.

Please Note: Anything that is sent to us is the responsibility of the seller, until it is safely received.

Payment Options to the Seller

The Association can make payment for the items purchased (in Pounds Sterling - GBP) by any of the following methods:

  • PayPal - If you have a PayPal Account we can make a payment directly into it.
  • Bank Transfer - Once the purchased is agreed, just provide the Secondhand Sales Officer with the account details.
  • Cheque - We can pay by cheque if required, although there will be a slight delay of a few days to obtain the two signatories required.
  • Cash - in exceptional circumstances we can arrange for cash payments to be made, from the Sales stand at an exhibition. This would normally be for small items received, or by special arrangement for larger amounts. 
Cash Payments for items NOT received at the Secondhand Sales stand must be pre-arranged with the Secondhand Sales Officer
